"Life support failure" you hear on the intercom. The oxygen rejuvinator has finally snapped off of the U.S.S. F.I.S.H. as it plummets towards the alien planet's surface. You run around the ship frantically attempting to find a way to save your crew from [[certain death]].
<<set $guilt = 0>>
Recovering from your shock, you stare in awe around you. You don't think that anything useful could be gained by staying at the crash site. To the east you see a desert filled with shifting and swirling sand. To the west, a rocky valley filled with... trees? You have a choice ahead of you.
Do you [[move towards the desert]]?
Or do you [[move towards the valley]]?
You decide to move towards the desert. As sand clogs up the mobility of your spacesuit you begin to regret your decision. Maybe the alien trees would have been the better option to explore. Turning back, you stare at the trees in the distance surrounding the valley. Making up your mind do you decide to [[continue into the desert]] or turn back and [[move towards the valley]]?
As you stand at the edge of the valley you notice that the trees seem to be alive. Not aliva like the trees back on Earth, but alive with some sort of... intelligence? Looking back over your shoulder the plain desert seems a little appealing. Do you [[move towards the desert]] or [[keep the path ahead of you]]?
You decide to pick up the rock. It's heavier than you expected and grooved in a patterns reminiscent of the shifting sands. The color of it is similar to the rest of the sand. As you flip the stone over you nearly drop it in shock. On the opposite side of the rock is a humanoid face and three stubby legs similar to that of a tortise. This kind of weirdness is not what you [[signed up for...]]

You decide ignorance is bliss. There's probably no hope for the ship in any case, though you hope that if you do manage to survive the crash, maybe some of your crew will as well.
Feiry colors play against the windows of the F.I.S.H as it enters a free fall in the atmosphere of the planet. Deadly as it is, it's somehow beautiful.
Walking slowly around the ship you take it all in. And spot... no... can it be? A spare EVA suit? How could you have missed it? You race over to it, but then look back at your crew. Amid the doom you face a dilema. [[Should you put the suit on]], or [[should you give it away]] to another crew member?

The ship buckles. As the ice thaws your crew they look at you in bewilderment. "Are we here?" Colonel Jax asks, groggy but excited. Then the ship lurches. "An... an asteroid. It hit us. Our targeting computor must have malfunctioned." You stammer out as the crew looks around in shock. Jax leaps out of her pod. She had always intimidated you but in the face of danger her demeanor was a terrifying sight to behold.
"To the escape pods. There's no time to lose!" Jax demanded of the crew. The rest of your crewmates briskly nodded, leaping to the back of the F.I.S.H. where the escape pods had been stored. [[Key word "had."]]<!-- Styles -->

You hear Jax's voice from her pod. You are taken aback when you realize she is takling to you. "Thank you. Even if we don't make it out of this, we did all we could."
The ship plummets towards the ground. Every cell in your body feels the impact as the ship smashes into the [[surface of this alien world]].You regain conciousness amid the debris of the ship. You realize that your pod was somehow thrown from the crash site and landed in a pool of strangely shifting sand. Realizing that this was probably the reason your pod hadn't smashed to bits you mentally thank the planet before noticing the wreckabge of the F.I.S.H.
The damage was catastrophic. Racing towards the ship you call out to your crew. "Anyone? Can anyone hear me??.
Halting in front of the wreckage you stare in horror. [[There are no survivors.]]Every pod has smashed to bits, decimated by the crash. How selfless you feel. You are elated and excited to be so virtuaous in the face of certain doom. You apporach the pod of Dobbs, a crewmate of yours, a friend really. You smile shyly at his frozen, sleeping face visible barely through the frost layer on the cryo tube.
Opening his tube, you lay the spacesuit on his sleeping body and whistper, "thank you for the good times my friend. I hope you will accept this as gratitude for our friendship."
Dobbs, still asleep says nothing but you can hear his jovial laugh in your head. As you shut his cryopod, you return to yours, content with the extent of your compassion. The ship splinters as it impacts the [[surface of this alien world]] and you slip into total darkness. You awake from the crash. Still sealed in your cryopod by some small miracle, you smile, and wonder if any of your crewmembers are safe as well. You stare up at the inviting sunset of the planet. [[Play again?]] Something about those trees doesn't sit well with you. Deciding the desert may be the safer option you begin to feel the blaze of the alien sun. Overhead it looms. As you walk and walk and walk, trudging through the heavy sands you begin to become delirious until your foot plants itself on solid ground. A red rock sits beneath your boot.
Do you [[inspect the only rock for miles?]]
Or do you [[proceed with caution and move along past it?]]
You walk through the groves of trees and realize that they are alive. A vine wraps around your ankle, then another. Hoisted up in the air you struggle. You catch a glimps of the desert which now looks like a paradise compared to your [[current situation.]]You decide that the rock is far to suspicious to inspect. After all it could have been an alien turtle... or maybe it was just a rock. As you continue your journey through the sands however, you spot some plants in the distance. The eyes of the creature blink several times in a groggy fashion. They flit around finally resting their gaze on you! "This is the weirdest thing I've ever seen," you think to yourself.
"Thanks, I appreciate the compliment," you hear back inside your mind. You can't tell if the creature is being sarcastic, but you are clearly out of your depth.
Do you [[try to talk to the creature?]]
Do you [[toss it away and run?]]
Or do you [[try to fight the creature?]]"What are you???" you think to the creature, who frowns intensely. Hearing a grumpy "well that's not very nice," in your head, you let out a scream and sprint through the sand. Not turning back to see if the creature is following you, you continue to run until you are sure it is not following you.
"What in the hell..." you say to yourself as you catch your breath. This snaps you out of your concentration.
"Mumbo jumbo? Why on Earth, well, why on whatever planet this was would the strange creature use the phrase mumbo jumbo?" you think to yourself, forgettting that the creature could probably hear you.

[[Play again?]] "Eh, I'm sorry too, I just get kinda bitey, but you did kinda deserve it," the creature says. "Here give me your arm." With a stubby leg the creature becons you towards it, then spits on your arm. You quickly pull your arm away, but to your surprise the spit has hardened into an airtight seal functionally reparing your spacesuit.
"Glrrg's the name," you hear the creature say in your mind. "Well if you're new here, I guess I should show you around. Gruuupp city is thataway." It twitches its tooth in a direction. Then with surprising speed, the creature flips over and scampers off.

You have died.
[[Play again?]] You pull a water testing kit out of the pocket of your spacesuit. Dipping the device into the pool, you wait with a parched mouth for the instrument to give you the diagnostic. Hoping beyond hope that the little light will turn green you stare intently at the device.
One second passes.
Two seconds pass.
[[And the light blinks...]]There's no telling if your water testing device was damaged in the crash. Probably the best call just to trust the water you brought with you, even if it is recycled. As you sip the straw in your spacesuit, drinking the stale tasting water, you are relieved that it is somewhat refreshing.
You stare up at the blazing sky, realizing that the best choice would be to wait for nightfall before moving more. Leaning against a palm tree you take your first bit of sleep on a different planet and [[await nightfall.]] Green! It is safe to drink the water. As you pass the water through the filter on your spacesuit you relish at the cool clear taste of nothing. Refreshed you sit under a tree and [[await nightfall.]]When you wake up it is dark out.
